Jodi Wright

2025 Inductee

Jodi graduated from Kilbreda College in 1994, driven to pursue a career in engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Geological) with Honours from RMIT, a Graduate Diploma in Mining from Ballarat University, and a Global Executive MBA from Monash University. She is also a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Jodi has established herself as a leader in the mining industry.

With over 25 years of experience in the Mineral Resources Industry, Jodi has worked in diverse environments across Australia, Canada, Peru, Laos, India, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and more. Her roles span technical and operational leadership, focused on maximising stakeholder value while prioritising safety, environmental responsibility and community engagement.

Jodi began her career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at Cadia Gold Mine (NSW), gaining experience in both geotechnical and mining engineering. She has managed local workforces, built technical capabilities, and led teams in challenging contexts, including navigating political unrest in the DRC. Her commitment to inclusivity is evident through her efforts to increase female and indigenous participation in the industry.

During her time in Newman, WA, Jodi held significant leadership roles, including Manager of Mine Production, Alternate Site Senior Executive and Rapid Risk Reduction Manager. She led a team of over 680 employees in transitioning to autonomous mining while navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her role as a Rapid Risk Reduction Manager involved implementing strategies to mitigate risks and create lasting, positive changes for the community and environment.

Jodi has contributed to the community through volunteer roles, including serving on the boards of East Pilbara Independence Support, Newman Primary School and the Newman Visitors Centre. Her passion for education and STEM outreach has driven her to mentor PhD students, industry mentees, and participate in numerous STEM programs aimed at encouraging female participation.

Jodi is actively involved in initiatives like the “MiEX” Minerals Industry Experience Program, which introduces first-year engineering students to the mining industry, aiming to build future leaders committed to sustainable and ethical resource management.

Jodi’s career reflects her resilience, adaptability and dedication to making a positive impact. Her advocacy for STEM, leadership in the mining industry and commitment to community engagement embody the values of Kilbreda College – Strength and Kindliness.
