Reconciliation

FIRE Carriers

FIRE Carriers stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation Through Education. As a FIRE Carrier school, we show our respect for Indigenous cultures. We aim to work together for the betterment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our FIRE Carriers hold the flame of reconciliation within them. They are actively involved in learning about and implementing symbolic and practical ways the Kilbreda College community can assist the reconciliation process. These include fundraising; collecting donations for remote Aboriginal communities; and incorporating aspects of Bunurong culture into the everyday life of the College. In doing so, we stand in solidarity with Aboriginal Australia and collaboratively work towards equity and equality for all.

An annual Indigenous Immersion that occurs locally is offered to students who have been involved in the FIRE Carriers. In partnership with St Bede’s College, Mentone, students are immersed in this two-day run by local Indigenous archaeologist and artist, Adam Magennis.
