Transition Handbook

The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant educational milestone in the lives of our students and their families.  It is a time of excitement and growth as students are presented with new challenges. Students are supported through many avenues to allow the transition from primary to secondary school to be as effortless as possible.

This Transition Handbook will assist you with important information for your daughter’s smooth transition in to Year 7.

Uniforms

Our uniform supplier for many years has been Bob Stewarts Uniform Shop. You can find this store conveniently located in close proximity to the College in Mentone at 93 Balcombe Road.
The store can be contacted on +61 3 9036 7367

Bob Stewart Trading Hours
Monday to Thursday (8.30am to 5.00pm) and Saturday (9.30am to 12.30pm)

Orders: For online ordering visit https://www.bobstewart.com.au/school/kilbreda-college

Books and Stationery

In line with our efforts to improve sustainability at the College and reduce our carbon footprint we will continue to offer online ordering for all booklists in 2023.

Orders: The Campion portal is open and accepting orders. If there is a subject not listed on the booklist, that implies that there are no set texts for this subject and students will only require general stationery.

Visit https://order.campion.com.au/#homeView and choose the option to either sign into an existing account or create a new account.

NB: If the Campion website requests a code, please use MR22

Calculators

Whilst you can purchase your calculator with your supplier of choice, the College works with Abacus Calculators to secure calculators at competitive prices for our families.

Orders: Calculators from Abacus Calculators can be ordered online at www.abacuscalculators.com.au

Orders that are placed before 15 January will be delivered to the College and can be picked up at the Laptop Collection morning on 30 January or they will be distributed on the student’s first day.

Second-Hand Supplies

To purchase second-hand supplies, we recommend that families use the Sustainable School Shop, which is an Australian website where second-hand textbooks, uniforms, calculators and musical instruments can be bought and sold.

A number of Kilbreda College families are already using this platform which has become very popular across Australia in recent years.

NB: This service is run externally and not facilitated by the College.

Laptops

We are committed to providing a challenging, enriching and contemporary learning environment for students. Every Year 7 student will receive a College issued laptop to enable ready access to digital / online resources and to develop their skills in the effective and responsible use of technology. This laptop is provided for Years 7, 8 and 9 students.

A Laptop Agreement and Contract can be found below. Please review, sign and return when collecting the laptop.

Laptop Collection: Laptops will be available to collect on Monday 30 January from 11.00am until 2.00pm in Room 22. Entry is via Gate 3 (opposite the train station) and signage will direct you to the pick up place.

Homeroom Friendships

Our Pastoral Care program takes a horizontal approach, meaning each Homeroom comprises of students from the same year level. Most classes are undertaken in the Homeroom (aside from Specialist classes) and your daughter will get to know others in her Homeroom very well.

If you are interested in joining your daughter’s Homeroom Contact List, please complete the form below and return to the Registrar by 13 February 2023.

Canteen

Our Canteen is open from 8.00am for breakfast as well as at recess and lunch times. If a student wishes to order their lunch, they are required to fill in a lunch order before the end of recess and return it to the Canteen with money enclosed. The students then collect their lunch from the Canteen at lunchtime.

There are many health options for the students to purchase and often ‘special’ items available that are not on the menu. Dietary Requirements including Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options are catered for. Cash or Cards are accepted.

NB: Prices listed are 2022 prices and may change slightly in 2023.
