Transition Handbook

The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant educational milestone in the lives of our students and their families.  It is a time of excitement and growth as students are presented with new challenges. Students are supported through many avenues to allow the transition from primary to secondary school to be as effortless as possible.

This Transition Handbook will assist you with important information for your daughter’s smooth transition in to Year 7.

Kildare Education Ministries Parent Code of Conduct

Kildare Education Ministries (KEM) has issued a Parent Code of Conduct that all families must adhere to as of the commencement of 2024 school year.

The KEM Code of Conduct is found at the link below.

Please ensure the signed document is returned to registrar@kilbreda.vic.edu.au by close of business Monday 29 January, 2024.

Books and Stationery

In line with our efforts to improve sustainability at the College and reduce our carbon footprint we will continue to offer online ordering for all booklists in 2024.

Orders: The Campion portal is open and accepting orders. If there is a subject not listed on the booklist, that implies that there are no set texts for this subject and students will only require general stationery.

Visit https://order.campion.com.au/#homeView and choose the option to either sign into an existing account or create a new account.

NB: If the Campion website requests a code, please use HMHH

Calculators

Whilst you can purchase your calculator with your supplier of choice, the College works with Abacus Calculators to secure calculators at competitive prices for our families. NB: Campion also includes the same calculator on their booklist, however we have negotiated a special discounted price with Abacus

Orders: Calculators from Abacus Calculators can be ordered online at www.abacuscalculators.com.au

Orders that are placed before 8 January will be delivered to the College and can be picked up at the Laptop Collection morning on 31 January or they will be distributed on the student’s first day.

Second-Hand Supplies

To purchase second-hand supplies, we recommend that families use the Sustainable School Shop, which is an Australian website where second-hand textbooks, uniforms, calculators and musical instruments can be bought and sold.

A number of Kilbreda College families are already using this platform which has become very popular across Australia in recent years.

NB: This service is run externally and not facilitated by the College.

Laptops

We are committed to providing a challenging, enriching and contemporary learning environment for students. Every Year 7 student will receive a College issued laptop to enable ready access to digital / online resources and to develop their skills in the effective and responsible use of technology. This laptop is provided for Years 7, 8 and 9 students.

IMPORTANT: Laptop Collection Date
Laptops will be available to collect on Wednesday 31 January from 11.00am until 2.00pm.
Entry is via Gate 4 on Como Parade.

Homeroom Friendships

Our Pastoral Care program takes a horizontal approach, meaning each Homeroom comprises of students from the same year level. Most classes are undertaken in the Homeroom (aside from Specialist classes) and your daughter will get to know others in her Homeroom very well.

If you are interested in joining your daughter’s Homeroom Contact List, please complete the form below and return to the Registrar by Monday 12 February, 2024.

2024 Music Program

We welcome you and your child to the Kilbreda Music program. Participation in our private tuition of an instrument or voice is a gateway to a range of many other co-curricular opportunities.

The students then collect their lunch from the Canteen at lunchtime.

There are many health options for the students to purchase and often ‘special’ items available that are not on the menu. Dietary Requirements including Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options are catered for. Cash or Cards are accepted.
