We are thrilled to announce the launch of this year’s STEM MAD program, now in its third year, with 27 students from Years 7 to 9 participating. This year sees the introduction of our STEM MAD Mentors. This select group of Year 9 students will use their previous experience to guide the Year 7 teams while also developing their own projects. To launch STEM MAD, today the students engaged in a ‘Design like an Engineer’ workshop facilitated by AKORN Education. They covered some essentials of Structural Engineering and tackled challenges that included designing a water tank, engineering a seat and creating an emergency bed. They also had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for their STEM MAD projects. We look forward to bringing you regular updates on this exciting program and following our students as they create, design, test, present and then perhaps make it through to the various stages of finals as they have in previous years with their projects.
