Lots of excitement in the Library today as eight of our Year 9 students have volunteered to be part of ‘Sun Project: Shadow Judging’. “Sun Project’s vision is to encourage young people to engage with award-winning Australian literature and to create a space for their voices as they read, listen, discuss, reflect and respond”. The group have elected to shadow judge the Older Readers category and will read all the shortlisted books in the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) awards and come up with creative responses. To begin the process, today Leanne Hall author of award-wining, young adult novel, “This is Shyness,” visited the College to discuss her writing. She was vibrant, engaging and so inspiring for our students. As ‘shadows’ to the official CBCA judges, in the end the group will collaboratively nominate a winner in their category, with the winner announced in the coming months.
