Year 9

The end of the year is fast approaching, and it is wonderful to see the progress and achievements of the Year 9 cohort as we complete current courses and look forward to the upcoming ‘Headstart Program’. This week we have focussed on exam revision and celebrating achievements. It has been wonderful to see the study habits students have developed since the end of Semester 1 and the increased resilience and confidence in completing tasks of a more challenging academic nature.

The Duke of Edinburgh students braved extreme weather last week to complete a two-night hike at Point Leo. Students reflected that although at times they encountered challenges, the experience was worth it in the end. They have created many special memories for them to cherish and be proud of. Thank you to Jo Wood, Maree Clark, Julia Smith, Stephen Brown and Derek Haagsma for facilitating this adventure for the students. Find out more on our Duke of Edinburgh page in this newsletter.

On Wednesday night we hosted the ‘Celebration of Learning’ evening to showcase students work in the BRIDGES Program and other subjects. Parents were treated to a variety of items including music, art, photo displays and multimedia presentations from the students’ learning in a variety of core and elective subjects, as well as the BRIDGES topics of Sustainability, First Nations People, Refugees and Homelessness. Thank you to Mrs Melanie Marsh for organising this enriching time.

As we prepare for exams, the Headstart Program and end of year Christmas festivities, I urge all Year 9 students to continue making the most of every opportunity at Kilbreda, in preparation for the start of their Senior secondary years education.
