Year 9

The students at Kilbreda are offered many and varied opportunities for leadership positions. Each student brings to the role their unique leadership style.

It is my great pleasure to acknowledge the Year 9 Leaders for 2025:

Health and Wellbeing: Amelia Molina and Charlotte Bodenstaff

Living Justice: Sophie Shepherd, Sarah Ashwood and Neve Hoult

SRC: Erin Fredericks and Scarlett Presnell

Community Action: Keira Blackmore and Sophie Donnelly

Environmental Action: Celeste Healy, Gabriella McGuinness and Kara Gurung

Class Captains

K1: Isabella Piai Silva and Ruby Kennedy

K2: Anderson Magdziarz and Polly McCormack

K3: Lily Dixon and Sass Teleky

K4: Eve Kovacevic and Ella Shimmin

K5: Milla Thomas and Ruby Morrissey

K6: Olive Miller and Asha Jones (Term 1)

K7: Ionie Leahy, Zoe Salter and Isabella Wraight

In K6, the students identified that there were many students with leadership skills. They have made the decision to share the Class Captain leadership for 2025, hence the Term 1 reference. The recognition of leadership skills in others is a skill in itself. I applaud K6 for recognising the skills in each other and for agreeing to give everyone the opportunity to be a Leader in 2025.

Student Reflections

Pastoral

During Pastoral classes we have been designing and creating canvases to be presented in our classrooms. These canvases are a collage of everyone in the class’s interests and passions. Early in the year, we made our own dining plates, that incorporated our core values. Our plates were true reflections of ourselves as individuals. Using ideas from our plates we came up with ideas for a bigger picture – our canvases. The canvases were not individual depictions, but rather reflections of a common interest within the class. Everyone participated, whether it was in the designing or painting process, and we all left a special mark on the final product. Now, these creative and inclusive artworks hang bold on our walls. A true reflection of the teamwork and friendships that make up our homerooms.

Music

Whether you’re an aspiring musician or just enjoy listening to music, there are plenty of ways to get involved in music at Kilbreda. From live lunchtime performances to songwriting classes, there’s something for everyone.

A highlight is the Music Studio Sessions elective for Year 9 students. If you’re passionate about music, this is the class for you! You’ll explore your creativity, write original songs, and gain experience in the songwriting process. You’ll learn about melody writing, chord progressions, and catchy lyrics. It’s a great chance to collaborate with others and even record your tracks.

The best part? No matter your experience, there’s a place for you. Whether you’re a beginner or have been playing for years, the orchestras, bands, and combos are a welcome place for everyone.

If you love music, don’t miss the chance to be part of something special at Kilbreda!
