Year 8

Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest
if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

Year 8 students have taken the beginning of Term 4 in their stride. There is a sense of relief that the worst of the cold weather is behind us, it’s not as dark in the mornings and by all accounts it’s much more convenient to get dressed in the morning when you can wear your summer uniform! There is a sense of goodwill amongst the group that bodes well for the rest of the year.

Term 4 is a time of consolidation. It is a time to deepen the strong relationships that have been built up throughout 2022, the students’ first full year onsite at the College. It is a time to solidify learning and it is a time for growth and for asking lots of questions.

Recently, the year level were spoken to by Ms Susan McLean about staying safe online. Susan is a former police officer who specialises in cyber safety and educating young people and their parents about the dangers on the online world, and how to stay safe when online, at the same time as enjoying the benefits it provides.

We followed up Susan’s presentation in class the next day and explored many of the challenging topics that Susan spoke about. Susan’s message to parents was to make sure that the conversation about being safe online is ongoing, and most importantly, that no matter what happens, the students can always talk to a trusted adult about it. More information about Susan’s work can be found below.

Congratulations to Mia Bardis, Alivia Beck, Lola Clancy, Sage Chandler, Lainey Dwyer and Chloe Veneris for their excellent results competing in the ‘2022 Royal South Street, Ballarat Calisthenics‘ competition for the Chelsea Calisthenics Club during the recent holidays. Good luck to Phoenix Carroll and Elise Napier whose performances are coming up.

Well done to everyone in Year 8 for the way that they have begun Term 4, and may they grow and flourish throughout the rest of 2022.
