Year 12

Commissioning of the 2023 Student Leaders

“But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let them be your servant.”

Matthew 20:25

Last Thursday, we held the commissioning of our Year 12 Leaders at our Whole School Assembly. This was a wonderful occasion that acknowledged those who were elected by their peers and teachers to represent our College community.

Our 2023 Student Leaders are bestowed with the responsibility of being keepers of St Brigid’s flame and ensuring that they honour all those who have shared this place, whilst adopting a forward-facing and outward-looking approach to change. Like St Brigid, our Student Leaders and the Class of 2023 are young women of strength, vision and kindliness.

Throughout their time at Kilbreda they have demonstrated a humble yet confident resilience. They celebrate each other’s achievements with genuine praise and their nurturing qualities are evident amongst their peers. This year, our 2023 Year 12 Student Leaders are looking forward to standing by the 911 students who are fortunate to attend this great school, all with different ideas, from different ages and different backgrounds. They are committed to drawing on each individual’s strengths and quirks that bring something unique to the world to improve the ‘today’ we are living in with strength through courage.

Year 12 Formal

On 3 February, the Year 12 students of 2023 gathered at Merrimu Receptions to commence an exciting evening, the Year 12 Formal. Everyone looked their best after an endless list of appointments. We were greeted by our amazing teachers, who shared the same enthusiasm as us in preparation for the night. The anticipation was high as we waited for the curtains to be drawn to reveal the vibrant display and dance floor

We all made our way to our seats as our College Co-Captains welcomed us and wished us an amazing night. Entrees were served before everyone jumped out of their seats to make their way to the dance floor. There was lots of dancing, singing and smiles all around; it was clear that the highly anticipated night met the expectations of many. The teachers joined in and showed us how it was done, especially Mrs Moloney who had some groovy moves to share!

After a delicious main course, our SRC Leaders, Cleo and Michaela, presented the awards, which gave everyone a good laugh.

The whole night was filled with so much fun, regardless of the blisters, and memories that will last a lifetime. We want to say a big thank you to all the teachers who made this amazing night possible.
