Year 11

How wonderful it was to walk through the Year 11 corridor and hear the chatter and excitement of everyone on their first day back. This year is the start of the students senior school years and the theme of Courage is certainly apt.

In our first Assembly we spoke of the different types of courage, especially intellectual courage: to learn, unlearn and relearn, with an open and flexible mind. This was supported in the pastoral session where we unpacked Neuroplasticity and a Growth Mindset. That in order to grow intellectually we must challenge ourselves, ask questions and be prepared to not get everything right the first time! To be successful they must be active learners to dream big and remember that things worth doing seldom come easy.

This week in our Futures classes, we will be completing a goal setting activity to help shape our study timetable and allow us to revise and amend it as we progress throughout the year. Students will become more familiar with new vocabulary, VCE, VCEVM, SACs SATs, and the importance of being present at school for all classes as well as assessments. It is vital that all students make themselves familiar with the 2023 Senior Pathways Handbook, as there are strict guidelines that must be followed for any VCE subject.

I look forward to a most successful year. I am sure that if the students embrace every learning opportunity they are given, then growth will follow.
