Year 11

The start to 2024 in Year 11 has been busy and the students have embraced the challenges. For some, it is the second year of doing a VCE subject, but for most, it is the first time they have tackled a Unit 1 subject or VCE VM.

Pastoral time and ‘futures’ lessons have focussed on the need to be intrinsically motivated, set study goals and most importantly, implement them! Four students from the Class of 2023 returned to address the year level. Each spoke of the importance of balancing study with co-curricular pursuits. Their study tips suggestions around doing plenty of practice questions and seeking feedback from their teachers were well received. Year 11 can be a big jump with regards to the expectations for students and the completion of outcome tasks. It is so important to remain up-to-date and to stay on top of things.

We have managed to have a bit of fun and be creative along the way, too. Room 3 celebrated Valentine’s Day by making waffles at lunchtime for classmates. There were no leftovers!

During our recent pastoral time each student created a mini canvas depicting our theme for 2024, Hope. These will be placed on larger canvasses and displayed along the Year 11 corridor for the remainder of the year.

With time to spare in the lesson, we made our way to the Hall to learn some line dancing to the sounds of Beyonce and ‘Cotton Eye Joe’. Bit of a hoot!
