Wellbeing and Engagement

Term 3 in Full Swing…

We have had many celebrations, activities and events already this term. They each have highlighted the diverse and wonderful students and their talents as we foster and nurture an inclusive community.

International Day of Friendship – 30 July

In 2011, the United Nations officially designated 30 July as International Day of Friendship. The day celebrates the power of friendship in fostering understanding, solidarity, and harmony among individuals and cultures worldwide. It encourages people to build bridges between communities, emphasising the importance of compassion and mutual respect in creating a more peaceful world.  We celebrated this day by encouraging friendship with welcome messages, ribbons and the opportunity to make friendship bracelets.

International Youth Day – 12 August

Established by the United Nations, International Youth Day raises awareness about youth issues and encourages active participation of youth in global development. Our student leaders highlighted the achievements of young activists in the following fields – community action, justice, health and wellbeing, and the environment.

To the many and varied events that have occurred so far this term – the Indigenous Immersion Camp, the VCE VM enrichment days, the Careers Expo, our Foundation Day Mass, College assembly, the Boori Monty Prior Performance for Year 9 students, the UN model for our Italian students, the AMC Maths competition, netball and of course the magnificent performances of 42nd Street – we thank all students who were involved, as it is through the participation or support of such events that adds to our rich culture.

We also increase our fundraising efforts as we move through the term towards Brigidine Day. Many events are planned prior to and on this special last day of term. Wellsprings for Women is our focus for fundraising this year. Wellsprings is a non-profit organisation that supports women, especially those from migrant and refugee backgrounds, by providing education, support services, and a safe, welcoming environment. Their work helps empower women through programs such as English language classes, employment support, and wellbeing activities.
