Wellbeing and Engagement

As we approach the conclusion of the 2024 school year, it is with a profound sense of gratitude and reflection that we look back on the moments that have defined our time together at Kilbreda College. The tapestry of experiences we’ve shared, the growth we’ve witnessed, and the collective spirit of our community have made this year truly remarkable.

First and foremost, our deepest appreciation goes to each student for their unwavering enthusiasm, dedication to learning and commitment to achieving their personal best. This year, the embodiment of our College value, Hope – Bringing a sense of purpose, has been evident in the daily actions of our girls. Living out the College motto of ‘Strength and Kindliness’, they have bestowed the precious gifts of strength and kindness upon our community, creating a tapestry of joy we can collectively reflect on this Christmas.

The highlights of 2024 are numerous and diverse, ranging from the solemnity of our Opening School Mass and significant 120 Year Celebration Mass at the Cathedral to the dazzling success of our production of Frozen JR the musical. From student leadership initiatives to the impressive ‘Write a Book in a Day’ feats, and from the inspiring International Women’s Day Breakfast to the heartfelt celebrations of our Year 12 Graduation – each event has contributed to a year of significant achievements.

Class Lists

Being in a class without friends can be a challenging experience, but it is also an opportunity to build resilience. It is the ability to adapt and thrive despite experiencing a lack of familiar social connections. Resilience can help cultivate valuable life skills such as independence, self-reliance and emotional regulation. Overcoming the discomfort of not having a familiar support system encourages personal growth and the development of a strong sense of self. This resilience, built through navigating difficult situations, is important for long-term success, as it empowers individuals to face future challenges with confidence and perseverance.

PAM – Wellbeing Resources

A reminder that we regularly update articles and resources in this space. Schools play an important role in partnering with parents by offering resources and articles that support student learning and wellbeing. These materials empower parents to actively engage in their child’s education and navigate challenges effectively.

Cards/Cash for the Canteen

At recess and lunchtimes we encourage face-to-face social interactions and ask students to not use phones. Face-to-face social connection is important for teenagers as it fosters emotional development, improves communication skills and strengthens peer relationships. These connections create a sense of belonging and support, helping teenagers navigate challenges both academically and socially. Face-to-face engagement also reduces feelings of isolation and strengthens wellbeing.  We welcome your support by ensuring that your daughter has cash or card as an alternative to use for payment when purchasing from the canteen to avoid the phone from being confiscated.

Sport Uniform

There is one more year allowed for the ‘old style’ pants and jacket with the expectation that from 2026 students are expected to wear the new pants and jacket.

Best Wishes for the Festive Season

The holidays offer a time for reflection, express gratitude for blessings, and engage in the cherished Christmas traditions unique to each family. Traditions play an important role in a young person’s wellbeing, nurturing family connections and providing a sense of belonging. Encouraging “green time” over “screen time,” we hope they find moments of boredom, fostering creativity and constructive endeavour. As we bid farewell to 2024, let us carry the spirit of unity, gratitude and courage into the new year. May the blessings of the Christmas fill your homes with joy, love, and moments of profound connection.

Wishing you all a restful and joyful holiday season.
