Wellbeing and Engagement

As we approach the conclusion of the 2023 school year, it is with a profound sense of gratitude and reflection that we look back on the moments that have defined our time together at Kilbreda College. The tapestry of experiences we’ve shared, the growth we’ve witnessed, and the collective spirit of our community have made this year truly remarkable.

First and foremost, our deepest appreciation goes to each student for their unwavering enthusiasm, dedication to learning, and commitment to achieving their personal best. This year, the embodiment of our College value, Courage – Speaking and Acting with Integrity, has been evident in the daily actions of our girls. Living out the College motto of ‘Strength and Kindliness’, they have bestowed the precious gifts of strength and kindness upon our community, creating a tapestry of joy we can collectively reflect on this Christmas.

The highlights of 2023 are numerous and diverse, ranging from the solemnity of our Opening School Mass to the dazzling success of our production of Legally Blonde. From student leadership initiatives to the impressive ‘Write a Book in a Day’ feats, and from the inspiring International Women’s Day Breakfast to the heartfelt celebrations of our Year 12 Graduation – each event has contributed to a year of significant achievements.

Communities, as we know, are not formed by chance; they are the result of intentional efforts to engage, celebrate, pray, reflect, support, welcome, educate, and entertain. Our richly diverse school community stands as a testament to the deliberate actions of many who have nurtured relationships and lived out our Kildare Ministries values in tangible and impactful ways. In doing so, we honour the legacy of the Brigidine Sisters, recognising the fundamental role of education in spiritual, personal, social and intellectual development. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to nurturing and nourishing the gift of community bestowed upon us by the Brigidine Sisters.

As we stand on the cusp of the well-deserved summer holidays, we acknowledge that this season holds different meanings for each family. Regardless of the variations, our students need this time for rest, to recharge their minds and bodies, and to indulge in the pleasure of reading and outdoor activities. Encouraging “green time” over “screen time,” we hope they find moments of boredom, fostering creativity and constructive endeavours.

The importance of reflection during the holidays cannot be overstated. It’s a time for our students to contemplate the year, express gratitude for their blessings, and engage in the cherished Christmas traditions unique to each family. Traditions play a crucial role in a young person’s wellbeing, nurturing family connections and providing a sense of belonging.

While the break from the regular school routine is generally beneficial, we recognise that it can also pose challenges, particularly in managing activities and striking the right balance between engagement and downtime. We understand that the holiday season, for some, may bring unexpected stresses due to various circumstances. To support parents in navigating these challenges and ensuring an enjoyable summer for all, we have compiled a list of useful articles. These resources aim to provide insights and tips on managing the holiday balance, making the most of this precious time with family and friends.

As we bid farewell to 2023, let us carry the spirit of unity, gratitude and courage into the new year. May the blessings of the Christmas fill your homes with joy, love, and moments of profound connection.

Wishing you all a restful and joyful holiday season.
