Remembrance Day

This morning, as a College community, we paused to commemorate Remembrance Day and honour our service men and women who have served and those who have died during wars and peacekeeping operations. Several of our Year 11 student leaders and First Nation students led our Remembrance Day Service which was held at Brigid’s Place. Later in the morning, our Year 7 to 11 Student Leaders represented the College at the Mentone RSL Service where members of our Kilbreda Chorale led those gathered in the singing of the National Anthem.

Vaping has become a concerning trend among teenagers, and it is essential for us to be well-informed about its risks and consequences. As such, we are excited to invite you and your daughter to a special seminar where our guest speaker, Ms Sonya Karras will provide valuable insights into the dangers of vaping, its impact on our health, and strategies to address this issue effectively.
‘Vaping – What do you need to know?’ will take place on:
Date: Tuesday 14 November
Time: 7.00pm to 8.00pm
Location: College Auditorium
During the seminar, Sonya will cover:
- The science behind vaping and its addictive nature.
- Health risks associated with vaping.
- Recognising the signs of vaping.
- Strategies to prevent and address vaping in young people.
- Resources and support available for parents and students.
We believe that this seminar will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to engage in meaningful conversations with your daughter about the dangers of vaping and empower them to make healthy choices.
Transition 2024: Becoming a Kilbreda Girl
Navigating the path from primary school to secondary school is a crucial journey in the life of a young person. As stewards of your daughters’ education, we understand that a smooth transition fosters not only academic success but also contributes to the development of resilient, confident and well-rounded individuals. Our commitment to providing a robust and supportive transition program stems from the belief that these experiences lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. By fostering a supportive environment during this period, we aim to empower our students to embrace challenges, forge new friendships, and deepen their sense of connection to Kilbreda College.
We very much look forward to welcoming our incoming Year 7 students and their families to our ‘Becoming a Kilbreda Girl’ transition evening on Monday 13 November commencing at 6.30pm in the Kildare Centre. During this evening, we will explore life as a Year 7 student at Kilbreda College, including the co-curricular opportunities that are available to all.
Upcoming Events
Year 9, 10 and 11 Examinations
As the Unit 3&4 VCAA examinations begin to draw to a close, students in Years 9, 10 and 11 are preparing for the commencement of their end of semester examinations. These examinations will enable students to demonstrate their learning over the course of the semester, refine their revision techniques and practice their examination writing skills. We wish all students the very best for their upcoming examinations.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Drive
In the coming week we will start our appeal for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers. We encourage all families to get behind it. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to go beyond this community, to think of those in need, as we enter closer to the time of Advent and preparation for the Christmas season.
In closing, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of our school community. Together, we are shaping the future leaders of tomorrow, instilling in the skills and values that will guide them in all of their endeavours. May our community flourish in light of our shared purpose and may the bonds we’ve forged continue to empower our students to be people of ‘Strength and Kindliness.’
