Softball

It was a beautiful spring day for the Division 1 SCSA 1 Softball at Jells Park on Monday 10 October. As this was the first time we had played softball since 2019, it was certainly a big day of learning for all involved. All teams played well throughout the rounds to progress to the semi finals with the Junior and Intermediate teams winning through to the grand final.

Both the Junior and Intermediate teams faced tough opposition in the final with both teams having big losses to their opponents (Intermediates – OLSH, Juniors – Santa Maria) in the round games. Both teams started well with some great pitching and team play keeping their opposition to low scores while some good hitting and smart running had the score board ticking over. The teams continued to work well together with both reversing their results from earlier in the day to come away with the win.

Other Sport

3 v 3 Basketball

On Tuesday our U15, 3 v 3 basketballers participated in the Victorian Schools 3 v 3 competition. For some it was their first taste of 3 v 3 and the first time this group had played together. They played some fantastic team basketball throughout the rounds with big wins over Mordialloc College, Edinburgh College and Nunawading Christian College.

The quarter final saw a tight tussle with St Helena Sports Academy with numerous lead changes. However, the girls toughed it out to win by 1pointt! The semi-final was another tough game against a basketball academy school, Templestowe College, and it went down to the wire with the game going to overtime and the team once again winning by 1 point! The team started the grand final strongly, but the height of Mount Lilydale Mercy College proved too much in the end with the girls going down by 1 point.

Congratulations to Ella Wickstrom, Lucy Cracknell, Jessica Comas and Holly Kearney who all played superbly throughout the day.

Swim Training

Early morning swim training started this week and we had a great turnout at Mentone Girls Grammar on Tuesday. If your child is keen to be involved, can you please email joanne.wood@kilbreda.vic.edu.au

Please note that this is 45 mins of intense swimming and is not a learn to swim program.

Victorian Track & Field Athletics Championships at Lakeside Stadium

29 to 30 October and 5 to 6 November

Some students have shown an interest in participating in the Victorian Track and Field events at Lakeside Stadium in the next few weeks in a variety of events.

Good luck to the following students participating: Indianna Dickson, Indianna Norton, Jacinta Crowley, Gabrielle Bienaime and Jasmine Perry

Duke of Edinburgh

Well done and good luck to the Year 9 students who have met the requirements to attend the Adventurous Journey from Wed 26 to 28 October at Wilsons Promontory National Park. Information regarding the camp is on the Duke Google Classroom.

A big congratulations to the students in Years 10 to 12 who have recently completed the Award. This was particularly challenging for Year 10 and 11 students to work through during the COVID lockdowns, so it has been a massive effort to complete it!
