SCSA Aerobics
On Friday 5 August, the College competed in SCSA Aerobics hosted by Our Lady of Mercy College, Heidelberg. After two long years of online practice over Microsoft Teams and entering our routines via video, it was so exciting to finally get on the road to compete in front of other schools!
Our three teams involved around 16 students in total, with many from Years 7 and 8, as well a student from Year 11 and me from Year 12. We practised our routines every Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes over Terms 2 and 3, learning the routine and being involved in stage positions and personal flair.
We arrived at the College that chilly Friday morning at 8:00am, buzzing with excitement, hair thick with hairspray, arms and legs stretched, smiles ready. Upon arrival, we were all amazed by the set-up of the competition and quickly warmed up.
First, the Level 3 Team competed, where we turned our nerves into adrenaline to perform a high energy, synchronised routine with lit-up faces. Then our two Level 2 teams performed with quality and personality. In the end, our hard work paid off, with one of our Level 2 teams placing second in their division, and the Level 3 team finishing fifth.
Overall, all students involved had a wonderful experience from the practice to the performance, with many looking forward to future competitions in 2023.
Special thanks go out to our coach, Shannon, who worked tirelessly to teach us our skills, Mrs Clark and other teachers who supervised.

St Kilda Football Club Lightning Premiership
On Tuesday 16 August, our Senior (Years 9 to 12) AFL team represented the College in the St Kilda Football Club Female Lightning Premiership Northern Hub Conference at Trevor Barker Oval.
The team started exceptionally well, dominating their round matches against Mentone Girls Grammar (22 to 2) and Mordialloc College (37 to 0) to progress through to the semi-finals. The semi-final saw a rematch against Mordialloc College where the team came away with a comfortable victory before facing off with a talented Siena College team in the grand final. It was a high-pressure match with scores close all game and both teams displaying great skills and teamwork. Unfortunately, we were not able to get over the line with Siena winning by just four points. Well done to all players involved!
