CGSAV Tennis

On Wednesday 8 March the CGSAV teams participated in the Division 2 Tennis competition at Dendy Park. All three teams made the finals with the Juniors and Seniors progressing to the semi-finals with the Juniors winning through to the final. The team played exceptionally well to win the day. Well done to all members and a special mention to Matilda Harrison for being named Best Player in the Grand Final.

CGSAV Indoor Cricket

Last Wednesday, 15 March, our three Indoor Cricket teams were driven to Box Hill for the CGSAV Indoor Cricket tournament. At 7:30am our bus was set to leave for the indoor sports centre. The drive there felt extremely long considering we were all still tired and waking up. By 8.00am we were at the venue and beginning to warm up and get excited. We practised our bowling, batting and fielding. We also had a team huddle to talk about tactics and strategies.

Intermediate Team Report

Our first game started at 9.00am and we were playing Avila. Unfortunately, we lost 74 to 59. Our second game was against MSJ, and we won, 36 to 87! Our third game was played against OLSH, and again we won again 34-66. Our fourth game was against Mater Christi and we lost, 17-88. Winning half of our games gave us a place in the semi-final.

We placed third overall and played against Avila again. We played an awesome game and we won, which got us into the Grand Final!  We were so hyped and nervous all at the same time. It was a really hard game and we tried out hardest, but unfortunately, we lost! It was sad and unlucky but overall, it was such an amazing day and an awesome experience! Shout out to Mr Kelly for coaching our team and making the day enjoyable!

Congratulations also to the Junior and Senior teams who progressed through to the Grand Final but were unfortunately beaten on the day. A big thanks to Mrs Carroll and Miss Smith for their amazing coaching and inspirational speeches.

Our Swimming team who started training in Term 4 last year competed in the CGSAV Swimming competition last night at MSAC. The swimmers showed great commitment to be at the pool at 7.00am on Tuesday and Friday mornings for training.

Last night, the team finished second overall, with the Junior and Intermediate teams finishing first and the Seniors placed fourth. We will have a full report of the event in the next edition of this newsletter. We extend a special thanks to Miss Renner and Mrs Ward who have been training the team and all the PE staff who attended last night.
