VNA Netball Championships

Last Thursday we had 5 teams compete in the first round of the Victorian Schools Netball Championships. All teams played very well with lots of wins (and a few losses) across the board.

Junior A

On Thursday our Junior A team had a very good day at the VNA. We played 5 games, and we won 4 of those games. Everyone played really well and I think everybody enjoyed it, and we are looking forward to CGSAV soon.

Junior B

The Junior B team went very well last Thursday at the VNA netball. We won 3 games out of 6. We were very proud of our effort.

Inter A

On Thursday 15 August, Kilbreda participated in the Netball Victorian championships, the Intermediates completed the day with 8 games winning 7 out of 8. With our amazing coach Ms Strauss giving us advice and leadership throughout the day. Although we ended up second on the ladder, we still had a great day, playing schools we have never played before and getting to know the girls in our team and learn how to play together for our next competition.

Inter B

On Thursday seven other girls and I were chosen to participate in the VNA Intermediate B team netball tournament. We played 8 games overall and although we didn’t come out on top, it was a great experience to participate in and to meet new people and form bonds with unfamiliar faces from other year groups. We played many different schools such as Cornish College and Mentone Girls Secondary. Despite only winning two games our perseverance and encouragement only increased by each game. On behalf of all the girls who participated we are so grateful for this opportunity.

Seniors

On Thursday 15 August the Senior Netball team competed in the School Championships at the State Netball Centre. We finished fourth overall with three wins, three losses and a draw. The team started to gel really nicely over the course of the day, playing some amazing netball. Thank you to Ms Smith for coaching us, Campbell for scoring and Ms Clarke and Ms Wood for organising the day!!!

CGSAV Soccer

On Tuesday we participated in the CGSAV Intermediates Soccer competition, playing with people we had never met before. Starting off the day with a loss, the longer the day went on, and the more connections we developed, the better we worked together as a team. Riding the highs and lows, we ended up qualifying for the grand final, and winning! It was a day we won’t forget, filled with lots of fun memories, and we will definitely play next year!

Keisha Grunberg

Congratulations to all CGSAV Soccer players. After a busy weekend of sports injuries we managed to field 3 soccer teams. Intermediates and Seniors only just had enough players. The Junior team was undefeated all day and went onto win the grand final game against St Mary’s 2-1. Best on Field in the grand final game was Natalie Cacciotti.

The Intermediate team lost 1, drew 2 and won one game 7-0 (hat-trick goals to Lucy Wintle and Keisha Grunberg). They went on to defeat Killester 1-0 in the grand final game with Lucy Wintle scoring the winning goal. Best on Field in the grand final game was Holly Astwood-Hall.

The Seniors drew most of their games but the most exciting was watching Rielly O’Laughlin scoring a goal for the team to win the game. Well done Rielly.

CGSAV Aerobics

On Friday 16 August 32 students competed in the CGSAV Aerobics competition at OLMC in Heidelberg. Five teams competed in various divisions and age groups. The students have been training since the beginning of the year and have worked hard to improve their aerobic skills such as push ups, jacks, straddles and leg lifts. They have also worked on their timing and ability to move around in varying formations. The competition was tough this year but Kilbreda did really well with one team receiving a silver medal. Well done to all those who competed.

The CGSAV aerobics competition was an incredible experience, giving us the chance to compete against other schools and gain valuable experience in performing. Throughout the year, we practiced and developed our routines with the support of Mrs. Clark, Miss Cotsis, and our fantastic coach, Shannon. The day was a great success, with my team securing second place in our category. All five of our aerobics teams performed exceptionally well, making the event truly memorable.
