CGSAV Swimming

Yesterday our swim team headed into MSAC to compete in the Division 1 Competition. It was a great day of competition with the carnival moving away from the night time slot to the afternoon. Kilbreda had 45 swimmers selected following their performance at our recent House Swimming Carnival and early morning swim training.

Well done to all students for their efforts in the lead up to the carnival and on the day. Kilbreda  had some fantastic results across the day, winning the Intermediate Division and finishing a fantastic 3rd overall!

A special mention to Year 12 student Mia Hayden who has represented the College in swimming every  year since Year 7. Congratulations and thank You Mia!

CGSAV Diving

On Wednesday 6 March, nine of our very talented Kilbreda students competed in the CGSAV Diving competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The team had put in multiple weeks of early morning training sessions before school at Mentone Girls Grammar to improve their skills, learn their dives and prepare themselves for this competition. They showed great commitment and drive to improve and be at their best for competition day.

They competed against five other schools including Avila, Mater Christi, OLSH, Sacred Heart Geelong and St Mary’s. They all tried their best in each competition and finished the day in fourth place overall with our Senior team finishing in third place. We had a number of individual place getters, which was a fantastic achievement. Ocienne F finished second in the Intermediate A division, Olivia L from Year 8 dived in the Intermediate B competition and finished third and Lucia R finished third in the Senior C division.

The students encouraged and supported each other all day, cheering each other on and had a fun day out representing the College.

Sport Aerobics

The Aerobics sessions have been very well attended over the last few weeks. The Senior students have started learning the more advanced routine. The Year 7 students have been able to learn the Level C routine very quickly.

The routine is on the Google Classrooms Sports page, so we encourage all participants to practise this routine over the next few weeks. The training sessions take place on Day 3 at 8.00am and on Day 8 during the long recess break (11.25am to 12.00pm).

Below is a video of the Junior aerobics’ students routine from last week.

Coming Up!
