SEGAP Softball and Tennis

Last Thursday saw the last cocurricular sport event of the 2023 calendar year.

The SEGAP Junior teams played the round robin Softball and Tennis tournament against OLSH, Killester and SHGC. The weather was absolutely perfect. The only challenge was avoiding the swooping minas around the softball diamonds.

The Tennis pairs played extremely well all day and went on to win the grand final game, 16 games to 9 against SHGC.

The Softball players hit some great home runs and worked extremely well as a team to get the runners out. They played OLSH in the grand final game and came from behind in the last innings to win by one run. A very similar scenario to the CGSAV game the week before.

Congratulations:

Tennis: Matilda Harrison, Maddie Gerente, Emily Gamble, Teagan Swanson, Khwaish Khana, Lucy Glynn, Sophie Donnelly, Miranda Ferrigno, Grace Watts and Sienna Ballis

Softball: Ella Shimmin, April O’Brien, Abbey Leonard, Neve Hoult, Matilda Laughlin, Lucia Dennis, Ruby Allen, Sarah Ashwood, Maddy Donaldson, Lillian Lacey, Polly McCormack and Aleeyah Wilson

Year 7 Volleyball Bonanza

Last Friday, the VET Sport and Recreation class hosted the Year 7 Volleyball Bonanza. The day was organised and run by the Sport and Recreation class as part of the Conduct Sport and Rec Events unit in their course. The students did a fabulous job with nine courts running at the same time, managing the fixtures, scoring and results.

The Year 7 students had a great afternoon with all students participating with a very positive attitude and displaying great skill after completing a volleyball unit in PE earlier in the year. A massive congratulations to the Sport and Recreation class for running a fantastic event.
