CGSAV Netball

On Tuesday 29 August, we headed to Werribee to compete in the CGSAV Division 1 Netball Competition. Teams competed in a round robin competition and the top two teams that qualified played in a grand final. It was mixed day for our teams; however, all recorded some good wins and their team play improved throughout the day.

A big congratulations to the Junior A and Senior B teams for making their grand finals.

Victorian Schools Netball Championships

On Tuesday 29 August, the Senior Netball team participated in the final day of the Victorian Schools Netball Championships. The team had qualified for this event two weeks ago at the round day at the State Netball Centre. The team performed extremely well with some great wins and narrow losses against the top schools in Victoria. Congratulations to all students for their performance.

Champions Cup Basketball

Last Thursday, our U17 Basketball team headed to the ‘Elite 8 competition’, which they had qualified for earlier in the term. This competition saw the top eight sides in Victoria playing off to qualify for the State Final. Kilbreda started well with a tough 11-point win against Berwick College before facing off against Lavalla College. While we led the whole game, Lavalla fought back to score in the last 10 seconds to tie the scores. Our final game saw us facing Rowville Sports Academy, who had also drawn earlier in the day to Lavalla. A win would see us finish top and off to the ‘Final Four’. The game was tight with neither team ever leading by more than four points. In another amazing finish, the game finished in a draw and with three teams equal on points it came down to percentage. It wasn’t to be for our team with us narrowly missing the semi finals by 6%. It was a great performance by the team who really took it up to the top Victorian schools.

Snow Sports at Kilbreda

Olivia Gilligan (Year 9) competed in the Alpine Giant Slalom Division 2 and came 154th out of 250 athletes.

Charli McNeill (Year 12) competed in three events this year in Division 1.

  • Snowboard Slopestyle – 4th place
  • Snowboard Cross – 5th place
  • Snowboard Giant Slalom – 9th place

Charli qualified for all three events to go to Nationals. However, they unfortunately had to cancel the event due to lack of snow. Charli has represented Kilbreda in snow sports over the last six years at Kilbreda and we thank Charli’s parents, Tania and Troy, who have supported the Kilbreda students in snow sports over the last six years.

Sports Uniform

A reminder to all students that represent Kilbreda in sports teams to please return all sports uniforms at the end of the competition day. If you have accidentally taken sports uniform home, could you please return it to school as soon as possible.
