SEGAP Netball and Volleyball

Intermediates

We had an amazing day at the SEGAP Intermediate Competition at Monash University. This is our competition against OLSH, SHGC Oakleigh and Killester. The students played Volleyball or Netball. It was great to see a lot of new faces in our teams which is a very encouraging sign.

All four Volleyball teams made the Grand Final games. B team went on to win the Grand Final against SHGC – 2 sets to 0. The D team were undefeated all day and managed to win with only five people in their team. C team played consistently all day and A team played some very close games and narrowly lost to Killester in the Grand Final game. 

Our Netball teams played consistently well all day too. Both teams made the finals and the B team went on to defeat SHGC 12 to 9. 

Congratulations to all participants. The vibe in the stadiums was wonderful and everybody played in the spirit of the day. We look forward to Term 4 sport now which will be played here at Kilbreda.

Juniors

The Juniors started their competition last week against SHGC and Killester. For some students this was the first time they had represented Kilbreda in a sports team. There was much excitement!

CGSAV Sport

CGSAV Aerobics

On Friday 11 August our Aerobics teams competed in the CGSAV Aerobics Competition hosted at Our Lady of Mercy College in Heidelberg. After many months of training sessions multiple times per week, led by our coach, Shannon, and assisted by the Aerobics Captains, Lucy Fitzgerald and myself, Kilbreda pulled through with a smashing performance from all teams, which managed to place us in all three places!

The Senior team placed equal first, Junior A placed second and Junior B placed third. An amazing effort from all five teams involved! We would like to thank the assistance of our coach, Shannon, and both Ms Maree Clark and Ms Julie Clark, for their continuous support and supervision during the many early morning training sessions. A special mention to our last minute fill-ins, Shayna Sampieri and Olivia Davies, who saved the day for us and were able to learn and perfect the routine with only 24 hours notice before the competition and helped us in taking home those first place medals!

Another special mention to our super supportive Year 12 audience, who assisted in acting as a practice audience for all teams before the competition. This allowed younger students to gain the experience of performing in front of judges and an audience. They also provided valuable support and feedback to the teams. Lucy and I look forward to coming back next year, to coach the teams further in their aerobics journeys and hopefully take the title once again!

VNA School Girls Netball Competition 

On Tuesday 15 August, Kilbreda had five teams compete in the round robin day of the Victorian Netball Championships. All teams performed well with all coming away with some wins.

We congratulate Year 10 student, Abbie Rixon who was a member of the SSV U/15 Victorian State Netball Team. After six days of netball in Perth recently representing Victoria Abbie and the Victorian Team came away as undefeated National Champions!!
