Coming Up in Sport!

We have an exciting few weeks of sport coming up with CGSAV Football, Volleyball and Aerobics in the first five weeks of term. We also have the State Finals of the 3 v 3 Basketball for our juniors, intermediates and seniors, Champions Cup Basketball for our intermediates and the St Kilda AFL Lightning Premiership day.

SEGAP Netball and Volleyball are also taking place during this time so it has certainly been a busy first week back with lots of trials and training occurring.

We ask all students to keep an eye on the Sport Google Classroom for all trial/training details.

St Kilda Football Club Clinic

On 14 June a number of students attended an AFL Football Clinic led by Hannah Priest, Captain of the St Kilda Football Club’s AFLW team.

All the students gathered on the our oval with anticipation. From the moment Hannah took the field, her magnetic presence and genuine passion for the sport captivated everyone present. Under Hannah’s guidance, we learnt about skill development, teamwork and personal growth.

We completed a series of drills, refining our technique and expanding our understanding of the game. Hannah’s patience, encouragement and expert feedback empowered us to push the boundaries and embrace the challenges that came our way.

Beyond the physical aspects of the clinic, Hannah’s leadership and mentorship left a memorable mark on all of us. She instilled in us a strong sense of self-belief, stressing the importance of perseverance, determination and resilience, both on and off the field. Her stories of triumph and overcoming obstacles served as powerful reminders that success is within reach for those who are willing to work for it.

Perhaps the most profound impact of the clinic was the inspiration it ignited within each of us. Hannah’s unwavering passion and dedication to women’s football showed us what was possible, dispelling any doubts or limitations we may have previously held. We left the clinic with a renewed love for the game, a heightened sense of confidence and a burning desire to pursue our dreams fearlessly. The positive ripple effect of this experience extended far beyond the football field. All of us not only gained valuable skills and knowledge but also witnessed firsthand the transformative power of leadership, mentorship and a strong sense of community.

We are grateful for the opportunity to have learnt from a remarkable role model like Hannah and are now inspired to embrace our own potential, break barriers and make our mark in the world of sport. In the end, the football clinic was more than just an afternoon of drills and exercises—it was a catalyst for growth, empowerment and a testament to the transformative power of sport.
