Principal’s Report

Valete to the Class of 2022!

It has been an absolute pleasure to acknowledge and celebrate the Class of 2022 over the last fortnight as they concluded their classes and celebrated their graduation from Kilbreda College! Our Year 12 students embraced the various activities and events the College organised for them and did so with great respect, gratitude, maturity and class! It was wonderful to hear the reflections they shared about their time at Kilbreda. They spoke about the care and empathy shown to one another, the staff who mentored, inspired and guided them, and the friendships and relationships they will miss. After two years of not being able to gather together to celebrate their graduation, it was wonderful to have approximately 500 people join together for the 2022 Graduation Mass, Ceremony and Dinner last week. There was a wonderful sense of joy, pride and achievement among all gathered.

We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2022 and the young adults they have become. As they embark upon this next stage in their life journey, they take the well wishes of staff and students with them. We look forward to hearing about their achievements and contributions to community in the years ahead and trust that they will carry with them the College values, acting with ‘strength and kindliness’ throughout their lives.

2023 College Co-Captains

Congratulations to current Year 11 students, Rachel Jones and Sienna Koop, who have been appointed as College Co-Captains for 2023. Both students have been very actively involved at the College since Year 7 taking on various leadership roles and have been wonderful role models and ambassadors. Both are committed to continuing to make a positive contribution to our school community through their leadership next year.

World Teachers’ Day

This week we celebrate World Teachers’ Day in Australia. Over my 25+ years in secondary education, I have seen the growing complexities and demands associated with our profession.  The last few years have been particular challenging for teachers, and they have shown great resilience and adaptability. It’s important that we recognise and acknowledge the hard work, commitment and dedication of our teachers. As is the theme of this years’ World Teachers’ Day, I “take my hat off’ to not only the wonderful teachers at Kilbreda College but all teachers!

Lord, we come to you today and give thanks for all our Teachers.
Thank you for the way in which they give of themselves each day in the classroom, serving and instructing the next generation.
We thank you for all of them.
Fill their hearts with courage now by your mighty Spirit.
Fill them with your strength, so they may rise to every challenge and not grow weary.
Fill them with your wisdom, so that they may be able to make good judgement when guiding and helping others.
Fill them with your peace, so that when stress and anxiety come it will not overwhelm them.
Fill them with your joy, so that the passion they have for their subject may become an infectious passion that spreads.

Amen.
