Year 9 Elective Music: Studio Sessions

The Year 9 Elective Music students have made an enthusiastic start in developing their songwriting skills this year. After studying marketing concepts such as targeting and audience and exploring a wider range of musical styles to appeal to a broader audience, students began brainstorming potential song titles and themes.

Last week, we explored the importance of a strong musical hook – whether a vocal or instrumental riff – to engage listeners. Using BandLab and our mini-USB keyboards, students experimented with ideas through a Digital Audio Workstation or live with acoustic instruments.

Throughout the rest of the term, they will focus on creating chord progressions and melodies, with the goal of recording their final pieces in our school studio. We look forward to hearing their finished songs!
