Performing Arts

It has certainly been a very busy term in both curricular and co-curricular Performing Arts. Students from Years 7 to 12 have been engaged in exciting classroom experiences to develop their confidence and skill in the area.

Junior Performing Arts

In our Junior Drama classrooms, students are workshopping short plays to reveal their understanding of theatrical styles and creation myth. Year 9 students are working on an exciting ensemble piece for ‘The Suitcase Series’ in conjunction with the Malthouse Theatre.

Year 8 and 9 Dance students are working on their choreographic skills to produce small ensemble pieces and highlight their growing technique.

Our Music students are working hard on their theoretical skills and researching world music.

Senior Performing Arts

The VCE students have been working to prepare for their end of year written and performance examinations.

In Theatre studies, students are preparing their monologues and working on their folios to analyse the rehearsal process.

Unit 4 Music students are rehearsing their repertoire for the end of year exam which includes six to seven performances pieces.

VCE Dance students have a technique and composition solo in workshop mode.

We are so proud of the hard work and commitment undertaken by the students and staff as they approach their exams. Kilbreda Performing Arts is a creative, challenging, fun and inclusive.

Interim Learning Leader: Performing Arts

Congratulations

We congratulate three past pupils of Performing Arts, some of whom were ‘Top Class Drama and Theatre Studies’ students, who have been carving out exciting career paths in the performing arts industry and winning numerous awards.

Stephanie Panozzo

After appearing in the television shows, “My Life is Murder” and “Hyde and Seek” alongside Deborah-Lee Furness and Zoe Ventoura, Stephanie Panozzo (Class of 2010) has now joined the cast of “Home and Away” as the character, ‘Eden’. No doubt, this will provide her with great opportunities for further success in the Australian film and TV industry as well as some international recognition.

Liliana Dalton

Liliana Dalton (Class of 2014) and College Leader is gaining a significant reputation and career in the theatre world. A sought after actor, she has just finished a season playing the lead role of ‘Caligula’ in the Burning House production at Theatre Works, receiving rave reviews! And there are more exciting projects on the way. Keep an eye out.

Snippets of the reviews on Liliana include:

“Young Liliana Dalton in the title role of Caligula is magnificent. She has that star quality of capturing our attention on stage at all times. I was transfixed by her; what a talent! I expect to see a lot more of her as she becomes one of our great Australian actors.” (TAGG)

“What holds the production all together, apart from the set and costume design, is the astonishing Liliana Dalton’s performance…bold and nuanced…” (Stage Whispers)

Samantha Hargreaves

Past pupil and Music Tutor, Samantha Hargreaves (Class of 2015) is one of six finalists in the 2022 Herald-Sun Aria awards. Founded in 1924, the Aria is the oldest and most distinguished competition in Australia for emerging classical singers. Samantha, who holds a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance from the University of Melbourne has always had ambitions to sing opera and is currently one of eight young artists with Melba Opera Trust. We wish her all the very best when she performs at the final of this prestigious competition in October.
