Legally Blonde: The Musical

This year, I took part in my sixth and final school production, which was Legally Blonde. It has been a journey that I will forever remember. The process started way back in November of 2022 where we each sat in the Auditorium, filled with passion and excitement as the 2023 school production was announced. From the weekly Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals, to our first dress rehearsal, to Opening Night, we have created a show filled with passion, love, respect and joy and we have been so proud to be able to put it on stage.

This show has only been possible as we have worked as a team. Through this process, the cast and crew have created forever friendships, sharing words of encouragement and congratulating each other, all while sharing many laughs and memories along the way.

I will forever be grateful for this amazing opportunity and have loved sharing all that I have learnt with younger students who wish to continue. I have loved being able to share my passion with others and putting a smile on people’s faces.

I will forever be grateful for this opportunity to perform alongside my best friends for a final time, as we reach the end of our Kilbreda Journeys. I have loved creating new memories each day with them.

We all wish to share our gratitude to Ms Everett and Ms Mitchell for making this all possible for us, as well as Ms Rabbetts and the band for bringing Legally Blonde to life.

Congratulations to the whole cast and crew and chookas for the final shows!

Year 12

This year’s college production has been one filled with passion, joy, laughter and love. From embarking on this journey way back in November 2022, every single cast and crew member has been devoted to putting on the best show possible!

Many hours of rehearsal and planning has been put in by cast, crew and teachers, in order to deliver a performance to be remembered. Last week’s opening night went above and beyond expectations, leaving the energy and excitement buzzing backstage, with everyone eager for the performances to follow. This year, I have had the pleasure of being a part of the cast as well as working closely with the backstage crew through my role as production manager. Both aspects have been thoroughly enjoyable and have allowed me fully to immerse myself into the show.

Legally Blonde is my sixth and final school production. Through the Performing Arts program, I have met some of my closest friends who have helped shape the person I am today. I will forever be grateful to the College for giving me the opportunity to continuously grow and learn as a performer.

Through the wonderful guidance of Ms Mitchell and Ms Everett over the past couple of years, as well as Ms Rabbetts and Ms Macs vocal knowledge, we have been able to put on a performance that will be remembered in Kilbreda’s history. On behalf of everyone we hope that you have (and still to come) enjoyed the show!

Year 12

This year’s musical was Legally Blonde and I was given the opportunity to be Stage Manager, an experience that I won’t be able to forget. It has been enjoyable getting to know more of the Kilbreda and St Bede’s community. I have enjoyed making friends with the younger year levels and getting to see the different ideas that go into creating a show. I have really loved doing this year’s show, even when things didn’t go as planned. I will miss being a part of the production next year.

Being true to yourself never goes out of style Elle Woods

It has been a great pleasure working alongside many of the talented and professional musicians in our Legally Blonde show band at Kilbreda College. This experience has not only opened my mind to a professional setting as such in the music industry, but has personally developed my skills and knowledge as a musician and within a team of amazing individuals.

For those musicians who would like a challenge outside the classroom or private lessons, or would like to further explore their passion for music, I would largely recommend this exciting opportunity. The musical show band has not only developed my ability to play in a group setting, but has made me learn myself to give everything a go. I have realised that there are various challenges in this role but have learnt to adapt to different parts of music, such as repeating the same vamp and being prepared to move onto the next section of music almost immediately has assisted me with becoming aware of the working parts within the band that form each song in the musical.

A big thank you again to everyone who has worked hard to make this happen as well as the many talented musicians, and our amazing conductor Kara-lee Rabbetts who has worked very hard to bring together the band and singers in an amazing show. It has been a delight to get to know each of the incredible people that make up the legally blonde band and get to know some tips and tricks along the way as well!
