Performance and Development

This year staff have reflected on the many facets of performance and development at the College.

The College has explored the many data sources and how these multiple measures (perception, outcome, process and demographic) can enhance the understanding of staff of the many influences on student learning and outcomes.

Staff have focussed on Differentiated Teaching Practice and the 3L Program (Language and Literacy for Learning) during their Professional Learning Communities. Staff now have a plethora of resources to both differentiate the learning to meet the needs of all students and strategies to ensure that literacy skills are enhanced in every class in the College.

Staff have participated in activities that assisted in their exploration of faith and social justice. ACRATH and Jesuit Social Services presented workshops to highlight their focus on social justice within the community. Staff explored more about the values and mission of the Brigidine Sisters as they walked through the grounds of the College, reflecting on key monuments, scripture and prayer. Staff participated in a Staff Faith Day that focused on the Kildare Ministries Living Justice, Living Peace Charter and a Staff Wellbeing Day where the focus Building Communities of Wellbeing and Engagement was explored.

All staff have reflected on their own practice, strengths, goals and strategies in their discussions during their Professional Practice Review and Reflection. Professor John Hattie suggests:

“The staffroom needs to be a professional community of scholars working together to maximise each other’s success.”

This ’success’ is what we have experienced at Kilbreda College in 2023 and what I look forward to continuing in 2024.

As our 2023 school year concludes, I wish the Kilbreda community a safe, happy and holy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
