New Staff

This year we have had a number of new staff join our College. I look forward to introducing you to these staff and sharing their biographies with you over the next three issues of this newsletter.

Angelo Andrea Di Castro

Humanities and Languages Teacher

Andrea has been teaching for the last six years in the areas of Humanities, History, Geography and the Italian Language. He joins us from his most recent role at McKillop College, as Teacher of Humanities and Italian. Andrea has completed further studies in Italy, with a Bachelor of Arts and Honours in Asian Studies, History and Archaeology, with a PHD in Archelogy. He is a native Italian speaker and proficient in Latin and French.

Giovanni Di Fabrizio

Learning Leader: Languages

Giovanni is a native Italian and fluent in French. He joins us from Simonds Catholic College, where he was the Languages Leader for eight years, while also teaching Italian and Humanities/RE. Giovanni has experience developing units of work using the Understanding By Design approach. He has organised student study tours to Italy and Japan and is a committee member at both VATI and CoAsit.

Daniel Kelly

Learning Leader: Health and PE

Daniel has worked for the past 17+ years at Mt Lilydale College. During his time there he held a variety of roles, which included Leader of Health and PE, Director of Sport and Assistant Year Level Coordinator. These roles allowed him to understand the demands within a college environment. He prides himself on his ability to develop a strong rapport with students by affirming their abilities and understanding their different needs as they mature into young adults.

Rohit Kumar

Learning Diversity Assistant

Rohit is the Founder and Owner of his own company called Sandybay Media LLC, US registered limited liability company that works as a content creation partner with collegiate conferences/ leagues and collegiate institutions. Rohit has had hands- on experience working with students at Ivanhoe Girls Grammar and Caulfield Grammar as a Soccer Coach (a sport that he is very passionate about). It was at Caulfield Grammar that he also worked for three years as a Learning Diversity Assistant, where he enjoyed working cooperatively with other staff to ensure continuity in quality teaching strategies, support of the student and maintaining appropriate documentation on relevant behaviour and learning.

Louise Mansfield

Senior Pathways Leader

Louise joins us having worked in a very similar role as Head of Senior Years at Star of the Sea College. She brings many years of leadership experience in Catholic secondary schools, having held the roles of Senior Years Curriculum Leader, Learning and Teaching Pedagogy Coach and various curriculum leadership roles. Louise has completed a Master of Education (Leadership), Leadership Coaching with Growth Coaching International, and holds Accreditation to teach Religious Education. She is a passionate and experienced VCE Psychology teacher and presents regularly at the VCE Psychology Conference.

Georgia McAleer

Performing Arts Trainee

Georgia found her passion for all things performing arts at an early age. She is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Performing Arts at Federation University. In her time at University, she has worked on a variety of productions, such as Jane Eyre (Mrs Fairfax/Composer) and Tribe (Princess). Composing is a strong focus for her and she is set to release her debut album in late 2023. Georgia brings with her experience and enthusiasm, as she looks to further grow and develop more holistically within the area of Performing Arts and learning the administration area that this encompasses.
