Living Justice Report

Justice Action Group

On Sunday 23 October (Catholic Mission Day), six of our Year 10 students volunteered to assist at St Mary of The Cross Parish’s JAG’s (Justice Action Group) picnic for Refugee families. The picnic was held at St Brigid’s school in Mordialloc. It was attended by over 70 refugees and their families.

Our students joined in with the dancing and played games with the young children making it a memorable occasion for all. Thank you to Mia, Lola, Alicia, Aline, Emme and Bridgette for your enthusiastic engagement and all round friendliness with the families at the picnic.

Messages of Support

Over the last fortnight, most Year 12 students across Victoria have gathered together for fun and celebration as they end their secondary school journey. Our peers and colleagues at fellow Kildare Ministries’ School, St Joseph’s College Echuca, were banding together for a different reason, to sandbag locations on both sides of the Murray River to try and protect their twin towns. So how could we help?

I reached out to St Joseph’s and organised a number of support messages from our students to give them a much needed boost. Sometimes it is the simplest things that have the most impact. St Joseph’s are a perfect example of community spirit as they rally together to support one another and the wider community. We keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
