Library News

Firstly a HUGE welcome to all Year 7 students and all new students in other year levels.  In case any of you have missed out on getting a Library brochure, please see the digital one attached below or pick one up when you next come through the Library. This outlines many of the services and resources which we provide as well as giving you the hours of opening and contact details and lending rules.

Courage Displays

The Library is celebrating this year’s College theme of Courage and we have made a number of striking displays to reflect this. We would like to thank the Maintenance Team for creating the cut out ‘Courageous Lion’, whose mouth has been turned into a hole for courageous students to place their heads. A great photo opportunity for the students!

Magazines

Over the break we completed a stocktake so that we could reorder missing books where warranted and we rearranged the fiction books to provide for better spacing and display. We have also bought a selection of magazines for the students to read, which is something that had been in abeyance for several years. We intend to make a new purchase of a variety of magazines once per term to keep the topics covered current.

Chargers

The ICT Department replaced all of the old laptop chargers in the Library so that we now support nearly all brands of laptops including MACs.  Students may bring their laptop in to the Library at any time and plug it into one of the many cables attached to the walls. If a student needs a computer but theirs is flat or broken, they can borrow a ‘Library computer’ while theirs is recharging or being fixed.

Anime / Manga Club

A new member of the College’s teaching staff, Mr Rohit Kumar, has started up an Anime / Manga Club in the Library which meets twice a week. The first meeting showed that there is a lot of interest in this genre!

New Books

We have also bought many new books over the break – you can see these by logging into the Library catalogue via PAM and the new books (and new eBooks and audio books).  Remember that your child can actually login (top right of the screen) using their school username and password.  This will enable them to reserve books and look at their own borrowing records.

Library Lovers Day

We have celebrated ‘Library Lover’s Day’ with great displays and we have also displayed some of more unusual books.

Angus Pearson, Yvonne Langford and Di Saugy.
