Reflection of the Last Few Weeks

Book Week was a delightful celebration of the power of books to educate, inspire imagination and develop an understanding of different perspectives. The week was filled with energy and creativity, highlighted by a book-themed bake-off, challenging lunchtime trivia – where our junior students proved their expertise as keen readers – and a vibrant book fair. It was wonderful to see such strong engagement across the school community.

We also welcomed the majority of our incoming 2026 Year 7 students for their Academic Assessment Services (Allwell) testing. This important placement test provides teaching staff with valuable insights into each student’s level of achievement as they begin their secondary journey, enabling us to plan for effective differentiation in the classroom and support every student in reaching their potential.

Our annual Visual Arts Week brought colour and creativity to the school, with a range of activities celebrating the talents of our students across art, visual communication, design and media. These activities not only showcased skill and imagination but also reflected our 2025 value of Hospitality, reminding us of the importance of gratitude and connection through creative expression.

Finally, our Past Pupils’ Showcase Concert was a powerful reminder of the enduring bonds that anchor Kilbreda alumni to their school. Past students shared their experiences and wisdom, inspiring our current students through mentoring and connection, and demonstrating the strong, supportive community that continues well beyond graduation.

Looking Forward

We have several exciting events coming up in the weeks ahead. On Friday 29 August, staff will take part in a Professional Learning Day with AI education specialist, Leon Furze. Please note that this will be an Asynchronous Learning Day, and no students will be on campus.

Following this, our students will have many opportunities to shine through a variety of events and showcases. These include BRIDGES Camp, the Year 10 VCE Dance and Drama Night, and celebrations for Science Week, which will feature a special STEM Morning Tea. We are also looking forward to the VCE Music Concert, the VCE VM Showcase 1, and the Years 7 – 9 Dance and Drama performances.

Each of these occasions provides a wonderful chance for students to share their talents and learning with the school community and where possible, we encourage families to come along and support them.
