Learning and Teaching

The VCAA examinations have almost finished with just a few exams to go. It has been wonderful to witness all of our students arriving prepared for their examinations and ready to demonstrate their learning. We wish students all the best with the remaining exams.

As students await their much anticipated results we encourage them to take the time to reflect on the lessons that they have learned throughout their schooling. Education is measured by more than an ATAR. A Kilbreda education aims to nurture young people to be ready to take their place in the world, as strong and kind individuals.

Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that

define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.”

R.J Palacio (Author of ‘Wonder’)

Year 9 to 11 End of Year Examinations

We wish all of our students the best with their study and preparation.

Year 10 and 11 examinations

  • Friday 15 November to Thursday 21 November

Year 9 examinations

  • Tuesday 19 November to Thursday 21 November
  • Regular Year 9 classes timetabled until the commencement of their exams

A reminder that there is no Homeroom period conducted on the days of scheduled examinations. Students are only required to attend school on the days that they have examinations scheduled. It is recommended that students arrive a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes before the start time of their first examination for the day and make their way to the allocated examination venue. Students are only permitted to leave the College after their last examination for the day. A reminder for parents to give permission on PAM for students to leave the College early after their last examination for the day.

Year 11 VCE VM students are expected to attend classes as per the normal timetable during the examination period. A Homeroom will be allocated and communicated to students prior to the commencement of the examination period.

Booklists – Campion and Edrolo

Detailed information regarding Booklists will be sent to families on Friday 15 November. In line with our efforts to improve sustainability at the College and reduce our carbon footprint Kilbreda College will continue to offer online ordering for all booklists in 2025.

If there is a subject not listed on the booklist, that implies that there are no set texts for that subject and students will only require general stationery.

The final ordering date to ensure delivery of texts prior to the commencement of the 2025 school year is Friday 6 December.

The letter that will be sent home tomorrow will also include information regarding Edrolo resources for students undertaking VCE studies.

Headstart

In response to feedback from last year, the Headstart program will involve all students in Years 7 to 11. Commencing on Monday 25 November all students will have the opportunity to experience their 2025 subjects, and wherever possible meet their 2025 teachers.

Each day of the Headstart program will commence with students attending their existing 2024 Homeroom before transitioning to their 2025 classes from Period 1 onwards. Please note that students will receive information regarding their timetable in the days preceding Headstart, once timetables and staffing are finalised.

Please understand that the process undertaken to organise classes is very complex and involves many moving parts. Depending on subject choices it is not always possible for students to be in classes with their best friend. Please encourage your daughter to use this change as an opportunity to meet new people and expand her friendship group; it is also a wonderful opportunity to encourage the development of resilience and commitment to their chosen subjects and pathways.
