Learning and Teaching

There is much to look forward to this term. There are a variety of upcoming co-curricular activities, which serve to provide opportunities to utilise strengths and talents in a multitude of ways. Students are preparing projects for STEM MAD, the BIG Science Competition, the LEGO Masters Workshop with Ryan Evans and the Australian Maths Trust Challenge, just to name a few.

We are also looking forward with much anticipation to the final showcase of the Kilbreda Festival, which takes place on Wednesday 8 May at 7.00pm in the Auditorium. Booking details will be communicated with families.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data Notice

Each year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). Kilbreda will again be participating in this process over the coming months. The NCCD process requires Kilbreda to identify information already available in the school about ways that we are supporting students with an identified disability. We do this as part of our requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, and in line with the NCCD Guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes: year of schooling; category of disability (physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional); and level of adjustment provided (support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive).

This information assists schools to:
formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools;
consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools;
and develop shared practices so they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

Further information regarding the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).  To read the information sheet for parents see below.

If you have any further questions about the NCCD, please do not hesitate to contact the Head of Learning Diversity at the College.
