NAPLAN

NAPLAN is scheduled for all Year 7 and 9 students on Wednesday 13 March to Friday 15 March with a catch-up day scheduled for Friday 22 March. The Year 7 and Year 9 students will have a technical briefing session next week to ensure that all students can access the NAPLAN test website utilising the lockdown browser.

This week, a NAPLAN information letter was emailed to parents. Please read through this to familiarise yourself about the purpose of the NAPLAN tests and to access further information or practice online tests.

Later in the year, parents will receive their child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report will describe your child’s particular skills in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. The report will also show how your child performed in relation to national minimum standards. These describe the minimum acceptable standards for students across Australia.

For more information about the tests, please visit the VCAA website at www.vcaa.vic.edu.au or the NAP website at www.nap.edu.au

College Library Hours

The Library is open every day before and after school to enable students to access resources, work together with their peers and to seek support and assistance in their learning. The Library is open 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Thursday and on 8.00am to 4.00pm on Friday.

Learning Diversity Staff will be in the Library on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to assist students with tasks, assessments and study skills.

Every Tuesday and Day 3, there will be Mathematics support with Mrs Swanborough

Hour of Power – Support for Senior Students

VCE students undertaking Units 3&4 English and Units 1 to 4 Mathematics will be able to access a targeted program designed to support them with their studies. The program will provide tailored support and students will have regular opportunities to consolidate and extend their learning and to hone subject-based study skills and examination techniques.

Hour of Power sessions will be available every Monday* 3.30pm to 4.30pm, alternating weekly between English and Mathematics, our two core subjects (refer to the program for details).

Sessions will be led by experienced VCE teachers, Mr Brett Reidy (Mathematics) and Mrs Nicola O’Shea (English). Teachers will work with students to develop key skills and content knowledge that will empower them to become self-directed learners who manage their time effectively to achieve optimal academic success.

All sessions will take place in the Kildare Centre, where students will have access to kitchen facilities. Light refreshments will also be made available to help maintain concentration and energy levels across the session.

*Please note some sessions will occur on Thursdays due to public holidays/whole school events. See published calendar for details.
