Learning and Teaching

The final weeks of term enable all to reflect on their studies and achievements in Semester 1 and to look forward to Semester 2 with new electives, areas of study and activities.

Semester 2

On Wednesday 18 June all Semester 2 classes will begin. Semester 2 classes and student timetables will be reflected on SIMON from this date.

Year 10 Futures Week: Monday 30 June – Friday 4 July

This year the Year 10 students will be involved in Futures Week during the last week of Term 2, Monday 30 June – Friday 4 July. The focus of this week is to assist students in their career planning, personal development and exploring areas of interest for future pathways.

  • Monday 30 June

Students will participate in their Year 10 Retreat. This will take place at the College where they will delve into the principles and framework of social justice. A discussion of FLUTE – Forgiveness, Love, Understanding, Tolerance and Empathy and how our actions support this will be explored.  

  • Tuesday 1 July

Students will travel by bus to three tertiary institutions. Students will be provided with an information booklet prior to the day with a detailed program, including their tour groups, expected arrival times at each institution and the staff members who will be with them for the day. Students can supply their own lunch or purchase their lunches between tours. Students are dismissed from the College when they arrive after their final tour, at approximately 3:15pm.

  • Wednesday 2 July

Students will participate in subject tasters. Teachers will discuss the many subjects on offer to complete the VCE and VCE VM. The day will culminate with students drafting their subject choices for 2026 and 2027. Students will provide preferences for their subject taster sessions in Week 10 of Term 2.

  • Thursday 3 and Friday 4 July – Pathway Interviews

The final two days of Term 2 will be Asynchronous Learning Days for Year 10 students, where each family will have a remote Microsoft Teams interview time with a member of our Pathways Team. Students will discuss pathways, pre-requisites for tertiary courses and subject choices for 2026 and 2027. Information about booking will be sent out to families early next week.

Pathways Expo – Thursday 24 July (Week 1 of Term 3)

The Pathways Expo is scheduled for Thursday 24 July, 6.00pm to 8.30pm. This event is a wonderful night for students and families to explore the many opportunities available to students in the senior years at Kilbreda. Students in Years 9 to 11 are encouraged to attend to gather information about VCE and VCE VM. The evening will include tailored information sessions for each year level and an array of subject booths to explore the variety of subject options and pathways available at Kilbreda. 

Universities and TAFE Institutions will also be available to answer any questions and students in Year 12 are welcome to attend in addition to the Year 9 – 11 students. More information regarding the Pathways Expo will be emailed to families at the conclusion of Term 2.
