Courage – Speaking and Acting with Integrity

This past week, many of our College community have joined with hundreds of others in the audience to watch the amazing musical production, Legally Blonde. Whilst this finished product is an awe-inspiring event, it only represents a small part of the journey that the cast and crew have been on. Over the past few months, I have been privileged to see the musical production of Legally Blonde in various stages, from initial auditions, to early rehearsals, blocking of stage movements and the development of the production band.

Whilst the final destination is important, the process and the journey to get there are where the biggest lessons are learned. Students and staff have demonstrated a commitment to the process, and to each other by dedicating hundreds of hours to rehearsal time. They have learned collaboration and negotiation skills as they have navigated and overcome challenges and obstacles. They have developed genuine connections with others as they have supported and encouraged one another and they have learned about the importance of being true to themselves and respect for all through the key themes of the storyline.

Congratulations to all of those involved in this year’s production of Legally Blonde, you have truly embodied the College value of Courage.

Careers Expo – Monday 21 August

On Monday 21 August we will host a Careers Expo which will showcase a range of post-secondary opportunities for students. Past pupils will share their experiences of further study and training and their entry into the workforce. There will also be displays featured from a number of universities and TAFEs, including Australian Catholic University, Monash University and Deakin University.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to explore career pathways and ask questions related to the world of work and the further study and training requirements to fulfill the aspirational goals of students.

The event will begin promptly at 6.00pm in the College Auditorium with a short introductory session. This will be followed by a range of presentations held in the Kildare Centre focused on different career pathways presented by members of the Kilbreda alumni including:

  • Sarah Kokkinos (Owner, Hunter Markets)
  • Meg Rayner (Journalist, Media Manager)
  • Rosa Cimino (Graphic Designer)
  • Liliana Dalton (Actor and Entertainer)
  • Emily Devlin (Engineer)
  • Lydia Wilson (Electrician)

We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to support you and your child in their pathways decisions.

2024 Subject Allocations

Throughout this term there are many opportunities for students and families to engage in discussion regarding future pathways. Students in Years 9 to 12 have had the opportunity to engage in conversations with Year Level Leaders, the Careers Coordinator and other senior members of staff relating to subject choices and pathways beyond secondary school.

Now that students have submitted their subject preferences we begin the process of analysing the data to plan for 2024. Please be patient with us as we take time to pursue possibilities to cater for the various pathways and student interests.
