Debater’s Association Victoria (DAV) Debating

Round 1

On 15 March, our Year 9 and Year 10 team participated in the first round of DAV Debating at Haileybury, Keysborough.

The Year 10 C Grade team debated the topic of compulsory voting and lost by a narrow margin; the team demonstrated great skills in collaboration in the preparation for this debate. They also supported each other wonderfully on the evening by helping each other with rebuttals. Well done to Kathryn Giantsos, Olivia Murphy and Annabelle McHugh!

The Year 9 D Grade team won their debate on the topic of co-curricular activities at schools. The students had to be flexible to deal with some last-minute changes to the debate format on the evening and did so with grace and maturity. Well done to Indira Alappatt, Freya Jomon and a special congratulations to Rhiannan Marie-Jean who was awarded best speaker.
