Student Reflections

On Friday 21 March, I, along with my fellow VCE and band music students had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools St Patrick’s Day celebration at Fitzroy Gardens. This special event brought together primary and secondary schools from all across Melbourne for an exciting musical showcase.

It was an unforgettable experience to not only perform but also witness the talent of other students. We were inspired by the level of talent and musicianship surrounding us, and it was amazing to see the diversity in musical styles and interpretations from different schools. Everyone had immense passion in their performance.

The event provided an opportunity to connect with students from other schools and bond through our shared connection of music.

On Friday we played in front of over 100 kids. Our set included Here Comes The Sun (The Beates), Dreams (Fleetwood Mac) and 505 (Arctic Monkeys). The experience was one of a kind – I got to play live music with like-minded people in front of a vibrant audience that was full of life.

I think that more people should take up Music because it’s fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding to create new sounds with a social circle that is so open minded to new ideas.

Overall it was a very rewarding and insightful as an event, and it was also lovely meeting fellow musicians from other schools around Melbourne.
