Assistant Principal: Staff

Earlier in the year we introduced new staff to the College. Now, we check in with these staff regarding some of their first year highlights.

Most Memorable Moment(s)

A highlight of this year for me has been as a Year 7 Homeroom teacher starting my journey at Kilbreda with the Year 7 students. It has been so lovely to see them flourish in their confidence and abilities over the year as they have transitioned into secondary school.

The highlight of my year has been learning what the students are passionate about and witnessing their gestures of inspiration and kindness. For example, at the beginning of the year, I noticed there were paper cranes sprinkled around the College for people to find or stumble across, each with a unique inspirational message or quote.

My most memorable moment was the student and staff performances on Brigidine Day. It was wonderful to witness a celebration of our amazing and talented students.

My most memorable moment for my first year at Kilbreda was Brigidine Day! The fun and enjoyment experienced by all was wonderful to be a part of and I really enjoyed transforming into a vampire for the staff act. Great memories!

The highlight for me in my first six months at Kilbreda was Brigidine Day.  The day encompasses so many of our values at Kilbreda College, which made me feel so proud to be part of such an inspiring school community, genuinely committed to actively living our core values.

Our Brigidine Day Mass gave us a wonderful opportunity to gather together as a whole school community, including our Brigidine Sisters.  It gave us space to share in prayer and mindfully reflect on moments to be grateful for, including the celebration of student achievement through presentation of the Brigid Awards.  This very special morning Mass enabled us to collectively live our values of ‘wonder’ and ‘hospitality’.

Our amazing Catholic Identity and Mission team, made up of staff and Student Leaders, brought a true sense of ‘hope’ and purpose to their endeavour in pulling together Brigidine Day.  They worked collaboratively to synchronize creative ways to ensure inclusion and enjoyment for all staff and students, while raising funds for the charity ‘Wellsprings for Women’, enabling our community to collectively live our values of ‘compassion’ and ‘justice’.

At the end of the day it was fabulous to witness the absolute delight and excitement by students as they watched their peers performing on stage in the Kilbreda Dance Company and in each year level’s “Kilbreda’s Got Talent” act.  The amazing talent displayed by students and staff was spectacular.  Then watching and listening to the pure awe and joy emanating from our students as staff performed “Thriller” was delightful.  I’m really looking forward to being a part of it all over again in 2023.
