Assistant Principal: Staff

Earlier in the year we introduced new staff to the College. Now, we check in with these staff regarding some of their first year highlights.

Most Memorable Moment(s)

From my first day I was impressed by the many moments of warmth and connection shown by the students across all levels at Kilbreda.  Two events stand out in my mind.  Our Year 10 and 11 Peer Support Leaders interacting with the Year 7 students in the ‘Just Dance’ competition at the end of the many weeks of the program. Looking sharp and coordinated took a back seat to high involvement and raucous laughter (reminding me of my disco years!).

Another highlight was Brigidine Day. I had been reliably informed by staff and students alike that this was a great day of celebration and how right they were. The costumes, the fun, the activities, the generosity, the respect and appreciation shown in the Mary Dalton Hall for the performances and the roar when the staff took the stage, all combined to make the day one of the most memorable for the year (so far!).

Looking forward to many more memorable moments in the future.

Wellbeing Leader: Years 10 to 12

My year at Kilbreda has been really enjoyable and I am amazed by the great people I have come across in my path – students, staff and parents.

My most memorable moments are by far the great excursion with the Italian Year 9 students. It was fantastic to see them truly enjoying themselves and experiencing the Italian contribution to our lives outside the College walls.

Second moment is the ‘Buongiorno’ pronounced by some students to greet me in the chilly mornings in the corridors…it makes my day!

Thank you to the Kilbreda Community!

Teacher

It has been a very rewarding year for me to take on the role of a Mathematics Tutor at the College. I’ve loved being at the College, getting to know the staff and students and appreciating the beautiful buildings and history. A highlight for me has been the opportunity to work alongside the students and support them in their learning of Mathematics in the classroom and in the wonderful Library after school. The language of Mathematics, algebra, symbols, calculators, formulas, solving problems etc. are part of a bigger journey of life-long learning.

The greatest blessing has been the appreciation shown by students and working with fellow teachers and support staff. A word of thanks, a grateful heart and a smile have made all the difference as I’ve worked with them each day.

I view each student as having something valuable that can be built upon. It has been a privilege to tutor and encourage the Kilbreda students and to see them persevere and grow in confidence throughout the year.
