Professional Learning

Over the last fortnight, staff have had the opportunity to come together for professional learning sessions covering a variety of topics and stimulating a number of powerful learning conversations.

Learning For Life: Creating a Strong Culture of Wellbeing and Learning

Our session on Learning For Life: Creating a Strong Culture of Wellbeing and Learning, saw students and staff share their own stories as we looked to consider how we can continue to create learning environments that promote student empowerment, voice, and agency; how we can further inspire passion and build confidence in our students; and how we can continue to support the neuro-diverse students in our classrooms. It was a wonderful afternoon, particularly when listening to the stories of our students and the impact that the College has had on their learning journey’s.

Faith Formation Day

Our Faith Formation Day was linked explicitly to Catholic Social Teachings with direct links to the Living Justice Living Peace Charter. This day provided the opportunity for staff to consider how we can continue to find new ways and opportunities to embed Catholic Social Teaching into the curriculum across the school.

Differentiated Teacher Practice / 3L: Language and Literacy for Learning

We have also now completed session six of our Professional Learning program based on Differentiated Teacher Practice and 3L: Language and Literacy for Learning. In the 3L program, this week we specifically looked at ways to use guiding questions and interactions to support writing, using ‘dictogloss’ to reconstruct texts and using joining clauses to make longer sentences.

The differentiated teacher practice program continued the conversation on ways in which the curriculum could be differentiated for neuro-diverse students.
