Assistant Principal: Staff

Throughout the year we have had the opportunity to ‘Shine a Light On’ the wonderful work of many of our Teaching and Learning Diversity staff.

In this edition, we will ‘Shine a Light On’ the role of two of our support staff. The work of our support staff in the Front Office, Finance, Canteen/Catering, Maintenance, Library, ICT, AV and Development Teams, is vital in ensuring all our programs provide the best learning opportunities for our students.

This week, we introduce you to members of the Canteen/Catering and ICT teams.

Greg Binion
Canteen and Catering Manager

As Canteen and Catering Manager my role is the day-to-day running of the Canteen. Included in that is preparing and cooking the food in the Canteen for the students and also preparing and distributing any extra catering requests there may be from staff for events, meetings and community functions. Stock control, ordering, banking and staffing are all part of my day, as well as serving at the Canteen during the breaks.

Some of the most rewarding parts of this role is the wonderful feedback I receive from staff and students combined. My terrific team in the Canteen have enabled me to feel at home and perform our tasks with smiles on our faces. We have been able to reduce the food wastage by a significant degree at the College and still keep a good range for everyone to choose from.

Melissa D’Aquino
ICT Support / Teacher

Here at the College I have two roles. The first one is working within the ICT Department helping anyone at the College with their digital needs. The second one is teaching Digital Technologies to the students at Kilbreda. These two roles combined gives me a helpful insight in how to help people react with their digital needs and how to best inform and educate them about new technologies here at the College.

Whether you are a parent, student or staff member, it is my role to help you with any technical issues that may arise. If you have an issue or concern, I am usually the first point of contact in the ICT Department and I love the challenge of being able to resolve (most) issues so anyone can continue working/studying without further impact or frustration.

The most rewarding part about working at the College is that there is always something new on the horizon. Whether that be a new phone, AV Equipment, laptop or even a new piece of software that helps us with the normal day-to-day. Giving the College community the support needed to be self sufficient in a digital age is the reward in itself!

These new changes that people experience today will be a constant for the rest of their lives and making them prepared to be self-sufficient is a huge success and a very rewarding part of being at Kilbreda. These digital lessons are the footprint for their future lives and how we cope with modern technology.
