Mother’s Day Breakfast

This morning, we honored our incredible mothers and all who have filled similar roles in our lives during our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. Our College Co-Captains, Alicia and Lola hosted the event which captured the theme of our mothers as ‘the heartbeat of our lives’. Year 12 students Aline B and Nyrie B reflected on mothers as “silent leaders who shape our world” and “everyday heroes who inspire us to be better’. Listening to our students express their thoughts and feelings is always a highlight of our breakfasts. Our keynote speaker, Kate Ingram, Past Pupil of Distinction nominee from the Class of 1993, deeply touched everyone with her speech. She shared her journey of dedicating much of her life to caring for her two autistic sons, while making significant contributions to her local community, especially in support of the Yarrabah School. Her words, “What you may take for granted, others could only wish for,” left a lasting impact on the audience, providing insights for reflection. Kate is a remarkable role model for our current students and we thank her for sharing her story with us. The performances by our Performing Arts students added fantastic entertainment to the morning. We thank Cara H, Alyce J and Grace R for their outstanding solo performances and to the Kilbreda Chorale for their rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” led by their gifted conductor and past pupil, Amanda Hargreaves (Class of 2016).
