Mother’s Day Breakfast

This morning we celebrated our mothers and those who have played a similar role in our lives at our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. Hosted by our College Co-Captains, we spoke about our mothers and how no language can express the power, beauty and heroism of a Mother’s love. From personal stories from Claudia and Liana, a Piano solo from Sophie B, to a moving video where our students described the important life lessons their mothers had passed down to them, there were many moments for us all to reflect on our own mothers. Our Keynote speaker, 2021 Past Pupil of Distinction nominee, Occupational Therapist and owner of ‘Gumboots Child Therapy Service’, Michelle Simmonds, spoke from the heart as she shared her story. Determined not to remain a victim of the environment she grew up in, Michelle pushed herself and passionately pursued a career in community health, striving to make a difference and improving outcomes for children and their families. What an inspirational role model to our current students and a mother herself who has made a difference to the lives of so many. Closing the morning were our Year 12 superstar singers (and some audience participation) with ABBA’s, ‘Super Trouper’!
