Lá Fhéile Pádraig

Today we celebrate the Lá Fhéile Pádraig (Feast of Saint Patrick). Although we are over 17,000 miles away from Ireland, this day is particularly special to the College community through our connections to the courageous Brigidine Sisters who founded our College in 1904. The morning began with an early mass in St Brigid’s Chapel celebrated by Father Peter Matheson. As students arrived they were given green ribbons and Homeroom was dedicated to a student-led service. Ár nÁthair (The Lord’s Prayer) was read in Gaelic and we learnt about Saint Patrick and the cultural and religious importance of the day. At recess it was time for fun with a ‘turn your water green stand’, Irish Dancing with past pupil, Mary Warren (2019) from Hall School of Irish Dancing and Transition Leader (and proud Irish native), Maria O’Leary, who also coordinated the festivities. Highlight of the day – a guest appearance by St Patrick himself!
