Kilbreda Clothes Swap

Last week we held our first ever ‘Kilbreda Clothes Swap’. This project driven by our Student Leaders under the guidance of Sustainability Leader, Dr Sarah Avitabile, stemmed from the increasing issues around ‘Fast Fashion’. “Every ten minutes, Australians dump 15 tonnes of clothing and fabric waste, which adds up to 800,000 tonnes per person every year!” The idea, which gained a strong amount of interest saw students bring in clothing to donate, which was then swapped for tokens that were used to ‘buy’ other items. We had a fabulous range of clothing donated including dresses, jeans, jumpers and tops. Some students tried on the clothes and many of them had lots of fun doing that! The items that were not swapped will now be donated to Vinnies Victoria.
