International Women’s Day
Today we celebrate all the women in our community – students, staff, past pupils, the leaders and the changemakers! To create new social and cultural codes for a gender equal future we must band together and continue to champion the unique skills and knowledge that women have. Highlighting the importance of the United Nations IWD theme, ‘Cracking the Code’, which focuses on how “transformative ideas, inclusive technologies and accessible education can play in combatting discrimination and the marginalisation of women globally”, our students led today’s International Women’s Day Breakfast with such confidence and poise. Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast and musical interludes with our senior VCE Music students and Kilbreda Chorale. A highlight of the morning was Past Pupil of Distinction, Lawyer and Human Rights Advocate, Laura John who delivered a thought-provoking address. “Who do you choose to be? You can be the women who define your generation. The women who dream boldly and loudly, who don’t just crack the code, who write it! Because women are extraordinary, you are extraordinary”. Happy International Women’s Day!
