House Athletics Carnival

Monday’s House Athletics Carnival was a day full of spirited competition, camaraderie and some outstanding results. In the end, there can only be one winner and the Champions Cup was awarded to Delany in a nail-biting victory. The results were particularly close for the top three Houses and it was great to see so many students participating. Not only were students competing in events but we saw a large number in support roles, from cheer squads to House Leaders and those assisting our incredible Sport Coordinators, Mrs Wood and Mrs Clark on the day!

With Houses going head-to-head in a variety of track and field events, we were delighted to have two records broken. Harriet D (Year 10), broke the High Jump record when she cleared 1.50m. This record has been held since 1988! Emily S (Year 12), broke her own 800m walk record by recording a time of 3.32.5. Incredible! Another highlight was our ‘Fastest 100m Sprint’, where the fastest student in each year level competes in the final event of the day. We congratulate Gabby B (Year 11) first, Indi N (Year 9) second and Ruby H (Year 10) third.

It’s certainly been Delany’s year this year, securing both Champions Cups for the House Swimming and Athletics. Next up is the House Fun Run, will they emerge as a triple threat?
